Voting begins on King Soopers contract offer - Business First of Columbus:

Voting on the five-year offer by members of Unitedc Food and Commercial Workersa Local 7 will continuethrough Wednesday. Union leaderes are not making a recommendation to theire members on thecontract offer, which the union complainds would cut pension benefits by an average of $100,00p -- a conclusion disputed by management. “It’s a good contract in a normal economy. It’s a great contracyt in this economy,” King Soopers spokeswoman Dianee Mulligan saidlast week. She said roughly 65 percentg of workers would get raises underthe company’s King Soopers is a Colorado unit of Cincinnati-based (NYSE: KR).
Coloradl workers for two other groceryhchains — Pleasanton, Calif.-based (NYSE: SWY) and Idaho-based (privately held) continue to negotiate separate deals with theird employers. If King Soopers workers rejectthe chain’s latestr proposal, they will continue working without a contractf until an agreement is reachedf or a strike is called. Their contractt expired May 9.
